Happy New Year! If you’re like me, you set goals for yourself last year (I always hesitate to call them “resolutions” for some reason). If you’re also like me, you lost track of them by mid-January and now, a year later, you can’t even remember what they were.
I’m trying to be better about that this year, and one of my goals is to submit more of my work to literary magazines. I’ve set up a spreadsheet and am keeping track of where I’ve sent which stories. My goal if (realistically, I’ll say “when”) a story gets sent back is to submit it to another outlet within a day.
Obviously, since I work for PRISM I can’t submit to our contests, but don’t let that stop you! The deadline will be here before you know it, though. You have until Thursday, January 23 to submit your fiction and poetry to us. Fiction will be judged by Joseph Boyden for a chance at a grand prize of $2,000. Karen Solie is this year’s poetry judge, who will be selecting the winner of our $1,000 poetry prize.
And don’t forget to add it to your spreadsheet. Good luck!
