Our latest themed issue, VULGAR, is live and we’d like to invite you to a Virtual Launch. Oct 29, 5pm PST! Location: here!
In issue 59.1, you’ll find work from the three winners of the 2020 Grouse Grind Lit Prize for Short Forms: Colleen Baran, Mike Sholars, and Emily Riddle. The issue also features a visceral cover photo, “Banana,” by Toronto artist Sage Szkabarnicki Stuart and interior drawings by tattoo artist Teagan Campbell.
Our other VULGAR issue’s contributors are: Mara Adamitz Scrupe, Elizabeth Ball, Ceilidh Barlow Cash, Alan Hill, Millie Ho, Matthew Hollett, Kelsey Hontz, Joseph Horton, Rochelle Hurt, Daniel Sarah Karasik, Christopher Linforth, Jennifer LoveGrove, Claire Matthews, Em Meller, Jhani Randhawa, Teressa Slind, and Lauren Turner. As written by editors Tanvi Bhatia and Emily Chou, “All of these pieces upset and disrupt, goading us into the places we’re afraid to visit alone. But we’re always drawn back by the deftness of our writers, their unique and insightful empathy, the way they walk us along the edge, just close enough.”
If you haven’t already, get Issue 59.1 here. Happy reading!
(PS— We’re open for poetry contest submissions until Oct 31st, and themed submissions until Nov 15th!)
