PRISM International invites submissions for its upcoming issue In the Archives, edited by Dora Prieto and Natasha Gauthier.
What does it mean to sift through archival material? What feelings arise as we look through old photographs, our family history, or other documents of the past? What are the struggles and reckonings inherent in research, and is radical transformation possible? How does the access or denial of information about our past inform who we are and who future generations will become?
The editors invite submissions of poetry, prose, and hybrid works that ruminate on archives: queerings, interventions, alternatives, hauntings, erotic interpretations, embodied investigations, the desire for or lack of facts, the line between knowing and the unknowable, and the precarious toying with “history” and the abyss.
