The editorial team at PRISM international is comprised of students from the UBC School of Creative Writing’s MFA program.


Editor In Chief – Ihomehe Agbebaku




Ihomehe Agbebaku is a writer, editor, and filmmaker based on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Her work spans poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, photography and experimental film, often exploring themes of memory, identity, and transformation. Ihomehe is currently pursuing  an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC and is deeply engaged in storytelling across multiple mediums, from literary journals to cinematic projects.


Managing Editor – Nicola Wanless

Nicola Wanless is a writer and cartoonist living on the unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ people. They are currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing at UBC.


Prose Editor – Zahra Mayeesha

Zahra Mayeesha (she/they) is a Bangladeshi writer and editor currently living on stolen xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ land as they pursue an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia. They are associate editor of the Bangladeshi speculative literary magazine Small World City. At PRISM International, they are content editor for Prose and lead the Prose Editorial Board.


Poetry Editor – Ayda Niknami

Ayda Niknami (she/they) is a Qashqai-Irani queer femme currently residing on the unceded, stolen territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ peoples (so-called “Vancouver”). She is the poetry editor for PRISM International, was a finalist for The Bridge Prize (2024), shortlisted for The Malahat Review’s Open Season Poetry Award (2025), and has work forthcoming in an anthology by Guernica Editions (Woman, Life, Freedom: Poems for the Iranian Revolution). Her work explores Iranian diasporic subjectivity, love, and relational autonomy. She is currently completing an MFA in Creative Writing at UBC, and also holds an MA in Philosophy from UC San Diego.


Promotions Editor – Sophie Crocker

Sophie Crocker is a writer and performer based on stolen xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ land. Her previous publications include Best Canadian Stories, Best Canadian Poetry, The Adroit Journal, The Fiddlehead, and elsewhere. Her debut poetry collection, brat, was released from Gordon Hill Press in September of 2022. Find her online at sophiecrocker.com.
