Home > PRISM Online > A note from the editors: On Steven Kummerfield’s publication in PRISM

We were recently made aware that PRISM published a poem written by Steven Kummerfield, who was convicted of killing Pamela George.

PRISM published Kummerfield’s poem under the name Stephen Brown in issue 55.1 in Fall 2016.

At the time of publication, were unaware of Kummerfield’s actions and true identity. We deeply regret the hurt the publication of his work in PRISM has caused to our community.

We will continue to do our best to uplift marginalized voices. The PRISM team has committed to donating proceeds from our next issue launch in May to the First Nations Family Support Centre in Regina, SK.

We thank our readers for bringing this to our attention. We welcome any questions or concerns to be sent to our current poetry editor, Molly Cross-Blanchard, at poetry@prismmagazine.ca.
