Home > Contests > Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize Deadline Extended to October 31st!

That’s right!

We’ve extended the deadline for the first-ever Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize until the end of the month to give all you poets the time you need to get your work ready to submit to this brand new writing contest.

Submit to the Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize by 11:59 PM PST on October 31st, 2016

Full rules and regulations can be found on our contest page, but in short, here’s what you need to know:

  • There are no restrictions regarding where a poet can be submitting from. There are also no restrictions on the content of your poetry (i.e. poems do not have to be about the Pacific).
  • Submit 1-3 poems of up to 100 lines each. Each additional poem is $5 and must be submitted to the appropriate category on submittable.
  • Along with the inaugural Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize title, the winner will receive $1,500 and publication in an upcoming issue of PRISM international.
  • The remaining $1,000 of prize money will be split among the runners-up.
  • Every submission to the contest is considered for regular publication in the magazine.
  • This year’s judge is Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate George Elliott Clarke. Read an interview with him here to see what he’s looking for in a winning poem.

Please do visit our Contests Page and carefully look over the full rules and regulations before you submit. These can also be found on our submittable page under the Pacific Spirit Poetry categories.

Thank you to everyone who has already submitted to this exciting new contest. We look forward to reading your poems!
